Officers and Coaches

Grace Draper

Rugby is the most empowering sport I have every played. The way rugby celebrates every body type, athletic background, and beating heart on the pitch is unmatched. There truly is no bond like the bond between rugby teammates and within the rugby community as a whole.

Grace has been playing with Rappahannock since its first season in 2015, and she is a purebred Rappahannock rugger having never played for any other team but ours. Grace has served as an officer and board member in various capacities over the past 10 years. Her goal will always be to ensure everyone feels welcome in rugby and to keep rugby inclusive.

“You don’t need to be anything or know anything to play this sport, just a willingness to learn and a desire to get better with every practice.”

Hi, I’m Ebony. I’ve been playing for 12 years. I started my rugby journey knowing absolutely nothing about the sport as a freshman at UMW. I saw a chalk ad on campus walk, decided to give it a try and have been hooked ever since. I have been a lock, flanker, 8-man and now inside center, but I’m still a forward at heart.

“Embrace the opportunity and don’t be afraid of mistakes. They are a part of player development and growth. Always push yourself and stay positive.”

This is my 15th year coaching, four at the high school level and for the past 11 I have been coaching at Rappahannock. I find that coaching is a rewarding way to stay involved in the sport after my playing days ended.
